Social
The number of social events that NAKID provides is sure to keep your schedule busy. Joining will get you
access to 3 FREE parties in the Spring, as well as the Booze Bus trip, Beerlympics, Beer-in-hand Kickball,
the Scavenger Hunt, a Poker tournament, weekly Happy Hours, and more!
The 3 FREE parties occur at the beginning, middle, and end of either the kickball or softball season. Oftentimes,
they're held at some centrally-located bar in DC, and can have upwards of 300 people attend. It's free
for NAKID members, and just $10 for any of your friends.
The Booze Bus trips, which are quite popular, usually involve meeting up on a Saturday around noon, hopping
onto a bus filled with FREE beer, and taking a trip to a nearby city, such as Annapolis or Baltimore. From
there, we grab lunch and bar hop for about 8 hours before getting back onto the bus and heading home.
The Beerlympics is, as the name might suggest, the official NAKID olympics. You and 5 of
your favorite teammates will band together to challenge other teams in a variety of beer-related
games - games such as flip cup, boat race, suckathon, and pyramid.
Beer-in-hand Kickball isn't your normal game of kickball. We'll venture out to private property that's
metro-accessible and proceed to consume our favorite beer, Coors Light. Then, we'll play a few games of
Kickball, but with special rules. In the first inning, you may be required to carry and drink your beer
while running to each base. In the second inning, you may be required to run backwards. The rest of the
rules are a surprise (sometimes even to us!), but it's sure to be a fun time.
The Scavenger Hunt consists of you and 4 other teammates and involves using the metro and car for a 7-hour
adventure through DC to find any of 100 objects on a list. Afterwards, we have a drinking contest with FREE
beer.
A Poker tournament is just what it sounds like! You'll buy in for $20, with two additional options to buy in
later in the evening. You could end up like our Web Wizard, who got comments such as, "Wow, I've never seen
someone crash-and-burn as quickly as you did." or you could win $500!
Our weekly Happy Hours usually take place in DC, which tends to be central to everyone. Sometimes we'll cater
to the VA crowd with an outing to the Clarendon Ballroom or The Continental, while other times we'll work with
the MD folks for adventures at Strike Bethesda.
